Ping Pong your team out of this world!

I was recently watching the news where they showed SPiN Toronto, a venue where one can come play … wait for it ……. ping pong!! (also known as table tennis)  Instantly my ears perked up as I thought to myself what a cool concept, especially for a teambuilding experience. Located in Toronto (Canada), New York, Los Angeles and Milwaukee, SPiN Galactic is ‘a galaxy of Ping-Pong social clubs’. These ‘social clubs’ were created by Franck Raharinosy, Andrew Gordon, Jonathan Bricklin and Academy Award-winning actress Susan Sarandon. EacPing Pong_March Blogh location holds tournaments and events on different days of the week.  How it works is that there are individual and family memberships offered.  The SPiN Membership Philosophy is “to create a global community of people, socializing, exercising and fantasizing together, thanks to a 2.7gram, 40mm gas filled, celluloid, ricocheting round ball … with a coefficient restitution of .88.” Quirky, but it works!

However, members and non-members are able to book ahead at a Group Reservation rate for a corporate party.  Each location offers private event party room(s) for hosting large groups. This would be a great way for any team looking to boost overall morale or as an incentive reward after a big project.  In between games, the team can enjoy some eating and drinking at each of the club’s respective restaurants, bars and lounges. You can be rest assured that Toronto’s restaurant uses locally sourced ingredients and handmade sauces in creating their meals.

I can’t remember the last time I picked up a paddle.  I think I’ll have to check out SPiN and have myself a friendly game of ping pong.

Royal Botanical Gardens …. Different scenery for your next corporate meeting or special occasion

We recently visited Burlington’s Royal Botanical Gardens’ (RBG) “Battle of the Titans” dinosaur exhibit. As we continued to explore the orchid show rooms and then into the greenhouses, we came across this long trellis that was not only beautiful but welcoming at the same time. It instantly spoke to me (not literally!) as I admired it walking up the stairs to the second level of the greenhouse. What a beautiful spot for a wedding picture or a family anniversary shot. The colours and design is so radiant; you can see for yourself on the photo on the right. The circular wreath opening captures attention alongside the colorful blooms that surround it.

I know there are two meeting rooms on-site that various groups and companies have booked and continue to. The gardens outside are picture perfect scenery for those looking for a unique venue for their wedding (or even their engagement pictures!). During the winter, this particular indoor spot would be perfect as the sun beats through the greenhouse glass roof, making you feel like you are in a special garden only for you! Creating for an elegant cottage or gazebo look; like the ones you’d see in Style at Home or House and Home magazines.

I hadn’t been to the RBG in many years but I now have a newfound appreciation for it. This would be a great setting for any corporate or group meeting. It’d be easy to take a break and smell the roses!
