This past Saturday January 24th, I went to the Interior Design Show 2015 (IDS2015) with a girlfriend. Let me tell you, I was SOOOOO EXCITED to go! Because it was my very first time … and because we were supposed to go last year but there was a huge snow storm that prevented me from doing so. There was so many booths from furniture retailers and distributors to tile and rug suppliers to independent vendors …. so much to see! So I’d like to share with you some of my fave things that captured my attention!
So many home décor ideas … so little time! Nice Saturday afternoon outing was had! : )
I was sooo excited to hear that one of Hamilton’s nostalgic pizzerias, Mother’s Pizza Parlour and Spaghetti House, was returning to our city. I was curious how’d they reinvent it, especially bringing back the unique taste that made it so beloved back when we were bambinos.
I got to have my first taste of the pizza I loved when I was a kid back in May when I went out with some ladies I used to work with. I wasn’t impressed with the décor but the taste didn’t let me down. The owners have done a fantastic job nailing the original taste and flavours of the Mother’s famous pizza from back in the day.
When I got home that night, I raved about it and told my family they’d have to try it. Life is busy in our household (as for sure it is in yours too!) so I finally made it back in August. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the Friday evening sun. I introduced the pizza to my young son while my husband had the Mexican Panzerotti (which was also very good!!). For days after, I wanted to go back for more …. I was addicted … lol!
Kudos to the owners for bringing back a little bit of Hamilton’s history and the authentic taste we all love and remember! Welcome Home!
My husband and I recently were out on our postponed Valentine’s Day date (you know if you have little kids as we do!). We had time before our movie, Silver Linings Playbook (fantastic movie!!) so we popped into the new Valentino’s restaurant on Paramount Drive. I’ve been curious since it relocated from Mohawk Road (where it had been since 1985) to this newer area on what it could look inside.
When we walked in, there was a line-up but we just wanted to grab an espresso at the bar. As we took our seats, I immediately began observing all the modern decor touches they had added (a big change from the dated furniture and overall 80’s look from their previous location). I was impressed! Very open-concept, painted bright red walls, built-in glass wall wine holders, sleek stainless steel light fixtures and red leather-bound menu holders. At the entrance and throughout, there is unique white panelling in a weave pattern; you can see it in the photo on the side. There is even red in the groves of the entrance’s walls; nice unique touch!
You can tell alot of attention to detail and design was put into decorating their new location space. Congratulations to new beginnings!
